To obtain a job on a building or construction site in NSW it is a requirement that everyone holds a current Occupational Health & Safety Certificate, or “Construction Green Card” as it is known in the Industry. The certificate is compulsory for each person as proof of completion of the "OHS General Induction for Construction Work" training. This course is also known as the "National Construction Induction" card.
This green card training course satisfies the legal requirements for General OHS Construction Induction for construction workers in NSW. This course is often referred to as the ‘Green Card' safety course or the 'White Card' safety course. This green card course is officially know as 'Work Safely in the Construction Industry' or 'CPCCOHS100A'.
OHS induction training in the construction industry is required under the NSW OHS regulation 2001 - Clause 213, 214 & 215.
Permitting a person to commence work at a construction site without having completed the required induction training carries a maximum penalty of 100 penalty units ($ 11,000).

Green Card Age Limit :
It is a Workcover NSW requirement that all participants who undertake Green Card training are at least 14 years at the time of completing the course.
Green Card Course Overview:
This course is officailly know as 'Work Safely in the Construction Industry' or 'CPCCOHS1001A'. This course provides participants with the knowledge & skills to apply the principles of risk management as an integral part of an effective OHS management system. The course also addresses the provisions of the OHS Workplace Injury Management and Workers Compensation Legislation, and assists in the development of appropriate attitudes to enable employees to effectively participate in the prevention of workplace injuries and illnesses.
Course Content:
- Identify OHS legislative requirements.
- Identify construction hazards and control measures.
- Identify OHS communication and reporting processes.
- Identify OHS incident response procedures.
Who Should Attend:
All new workers carrying out construction work, including: self-employed persons; labourers; apprentices; trainees; trades-persons; supervisors and project managers, employees who have not worked in the construction industry for over 2 years.
Certification:
Successful green card participants will receive an interim statement of training on the day.
The appropriate credit card sized wallet card will be issued directly by Workcover NSW.
Participants must complete the full course to be eligible for a certificate.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD):
This course may be worth 6 hours under other CPD systems.
Course Notes:
All participants receive notes and handouts that can be used as reference after the course.
Participant Identification :
All participants must provide 100 points of Identification. Workcover NSW Proof of Identification (POI) requirements can be found here. Particpants without suitable POI will not be permitted to remain in the course. Refunds are not provided to particpants who are unable to provide suitable identification on the day.
