General Construction Induction (Green Card) - FAQ

 

Do you offer Construction Green Card/White Card training courses ?:

Yes, we do. We run regular public green card courses.

Courses can also be conducted onsite in your workplace.

Will I get my certificate on the day?:

Yes, you will be issued with an interim construction induction certificate that is valid for 30 days. You card will be posted to you directly by Workcover NSW. You certificate can be used to access construction sites while you wait for your wallet sized plastic card to arrive.

 

I have lost my green card - I need a replacement:

You will need to contact Workcover NSW on 13 10 50 to obtain a replacement card.
The Workcover NSW card replacement form can be downloaded from Workcover website here.

Replacements cards can not be issued by the trainer.

 

How Long Does the training course take:

Minimum time is 5 hours plus breaks.


Can I do the course on line or by Distance :

No - Workcover NSw requires this course be conducted face to face.

 

How Old Must I be to do the course?:

It is a Workcover NSW requirement that all participants are at least 14 years at the time of completing the course.

 

What Proof of Identity (POI) do I need:

Workcover NSW is very specific in terms of POI requirements. The Evidence of Identitiy document can be downloaded directly from Workcover NSW here. A copy of this form will be forwarded to you when you enrol in the course.

Documents that are not listed on the form are not permitted to be used as POI documents.

Examples of UNACCEPTABLE documents include MSB licenses, staff passes, video cards, RSL or Leagues club cards, Fair trading licenses, other Workcover licenses or tickets, Health Insurance cards, Security or Firearms Licenses.

There are special provisions for School Students, Aboriginals and Torres Strait islanders, Correctional Centres, and overseas persons recently arrived in Australia within 6 weeks.

Original POI documents must be sighted by your trainer. The ID provided to the trainer must show your photo, date of birth, signature and current address.

Can I show my ID after I have completed the course?:

No, you must show your trainer the correct ID before you commence the course. You can show the trainer on the day, but you must have original documents. Bank account statements or bank cards must be from different banks if more than one is used. If you do not have the correct ID at the commencement of the course you will not be permitted to stay.

 

Who Should Attend:

All new workers carrying out construction work, including:  self-employed persons; labourers; apprentices; trainees; trades-persons; supervisors and project managers,  employees who have not worked in the construction industry for over 2 years.

Certification:

Successful participants will receive an interim statement of training on the day.
The appropriate credit card sized wallet card will be issued directly by Workcover NSW.

Participants must complete the full course to be eligible for a certificate.
