RTA Traffic Control Using'Stop Slow' or 'Stop Go' (RTA Blue Card)

To work as a Traffic Controller in NSW it is a Roads & Traffic Authority (RTA) requirement that everyone holds a current Traffic Controller's Photo Licence. This course is for any person required to control traffic using a Stop-Slow bat. The course meets the work activity requirements of the NSW Occupational Health & Safety Legislation and RTA obligations.

Course Duration:

    • OHS Construction Induction (Green / White Card)
    • Photo ID must be provided to your trainer on the day.
    • Australian Drivers's License
      1) A NSW P2 driver's licence (Green P's) / NSW unrestricted drivers license or
      2) A NSW unrestricted driver's licence that has class “R” (rider) only or
      3) A licence from another Australian State or Territory that is the equivalent or better than the above points 1 and 2 or
      4) Previous history of having a P2 licence (minimum) at some stage or
      5) Current Traffic Control ticket using a Stop/Slow Bat.
    • Overseas Drivers License - A licence from another country that is the equivalent or better than the levels specified for an Australian driveer's license. ie applicant has been driving unsupervised for 12 months or more. This may be established via the issue date or other details printed on their overseas licence. Any translations should be done at the applicant's time and expense. Documents must be in English.

    Course Overview:

    This 1 day course allows participants to understand the role of a Traffic Controller and apply the procedures of traffic controlling within a worksite. This course will provide participants with the knowledge, skills and attitudes to perform traffic control safely for their co-workers and the public.

     

    Course Content:

    Understand the role of a Traffic Controller

    Apply the procedures of traffic controlling within a worksite

    Operate a 2-way radio correctly

    Promote the role of a traffic controller in the community

     

    Who Should Attend:

    Any individual who is required to use an RTA stop/slow batton to manage traffic.

    Certification:

    Successful participants will receive a wallet sized card issued by the NSW RTA.
    This card is valid for 3 years.

    Participants must complete the full course to be eligible for a certificate.
    Assessment is both theoretical and practical, and is conducted in English.

     

    Participant Identification :

    All participants must provide suitable photo ID. Please read the particpant requirements at the top of this page. There is no refund for participants who do not have the required course pre-requisites.
