Every
computer that communicates over the Internet is assigned
an IP address. The IP address uniquely identifies the
computer, and distinguishes it from other computers
on the Internet.
By analysing the IP address, it is possible to determine
the source computer of an email, or other internet activity.
The format of an IP address is a 32-bit numeric address
written as four numbers separated by periods. Each number
can be zero to 255.
For example, 1.160.10.240 could be an IP address.
